To a solution of 4-(6-chloro-4-(ethoxycarbonyl)chroman-7-yloxy)benzoic acid (Preparation 1) (50 mg, 0.133 mmol) in dichloromethane (1 ml) and a drop of DMF was added oxalyl chloride (2M in dichloromethane) (72.985 μL, 0.145 mmol) at ambient temperature. Gas evolution was observed. The mixture was stirred at ambient temperature for 30 minutes. 2-(Biphenyl-4-yl)ethanamine (27.488 mg, 0.139 mmol) and triethylamine (36.992 μL, 0.265 mmol) were added and the mixture was stirred for 1 hour at ambient temperature. The crude mixture was purified on silica gel (MeOH in dichloromethane gradient) to provide 62.5 mg of the title compound as a solid (85%).
