Procedure

At 0° C., EDC (0.45 g, 2.4 mmol) was added to a solution of 1-hydroxy-7-azabenzotriazole (0.32 g, 2.4 mmol) and 2-norbornaneacetic acid (0.338 mL, 2.4 mmol) in dichloromethane (30 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred for 20 min at 0° C. 4,5,6,7-Tetrahydroimidazo[4,5-c]pyridine dihycrochloride (0.50 g, 2.3 mmol) was added. Ethyldiisopropylamine (0.40 mL, 2.3 mmol) was added. The reaction mixture was stirred for 16 h at room temperature. It was diluted with ethyl acetate (100 mL) and washed with a saturated aqueous solution of sodium hydrogencarbonate (100 mL). The aqueous solution was extracted with ethyl acetate (2×60 mL). The combined organic layers were dried over magnesium sulfate. The solvent was removed in vacuo. The crude product was purified by flash chromatography on silica (40 g), using dichloromethane/methanol/25% aqueous ammonia (100:10:1) as eluent, to give 120 mg of the title compound.
