To a solution of ethyl (4-oxo-4,5-dihydropyrrolo[2,3,4-ij]isoquinolin-1(3H)-yl)acetate from Step G (200 mg, 0.77 mmol) in THF (1 mL), EtOH (1 mL) and H2O (1 mL) was added 1.0 N lithium hydroxide (0.85 mL, 0.85 mmol). After 15 min, 1 N aqueous HCl was added to adjust the solution to pH 7 and the mixture was concentrated in vacuo to give the title compound. MS: m/z=231 (M+1).
