Procedure

In a manner similar to the method described in Example 50a, 2-fluoro-5-iodobenzaldehyde (2 g, 8 mmol) (Aldrich) was reacted with 2,6-dimethyl-4-hydroxypyridine (1.08 g, 8.8 mmol) and K2CO3 in N,N-dimethylacetamide to give 2-(2,6-dimethyl-pyridin-4-yloxy)-5-iodo-benzaldehyde as a yellow solid (Yield 2.63 g, 92%).
