To a solution of compound 33.2 (0.50 g, 1.21 mmol) in THF (5 ml), methanol (5 ml) and water (2.5 ml) was added lithium hydroxide monohydrate (1.17 g, 28 mmol). The reaction mixture was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was acidified with 1N HCl to pH 2-3, and then extracted with ethyl acetate twice. The organic layer was washed with water and brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was used for the next reaction without purification.
