A mixture of compound 35.2 (1.0 mmol), 3-(bromomethyl)biphenyl (1.3 mmol) and K2CO3 (2.0 mmol) in DMF (10 ml) was stirred at 90° C. for 19 h. After diluting with ethyl acetate, the mixture was washed with aqueous Na2CO3 and then with brine, dried over Na2SO4, and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting residue was purified using silica gel column chromatography (hexane/ethyl acetate=2/1) to give compound 35.3.
