Procedure
170 ml of oxalyl chloride are added dropwise at 0° C. to a suspension of 30 g (0.113 mol) of 4′-trifluoromethyl-biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid in 500 ml of dichloromethane and 0.2 ml of dimethylformamide. After the reaction has ended the reaction mixture is concentrated by distillation and the 4′-trifluoromethyl-biphenyl-2-carboxylic acid chloride is further reacted as a crude product.
