A solution of the product from Example 1D (2.6 g, 4.4 mmol) in a mixture of methanol (22 mL) and ethyl acetate (22 mL) was treated with Pd(OH)2 on carbon (0.8 g, 20% Pd by wt.) and HCl solution (1.0 mL, 4N in dioxane), stirred under a hydrogen atmosphere (balloon pressure) at 25° C. for 16 hours, filtered through celite®, rinsed with methanol and concentrated to give the title product (1.7 g) as the hydrochloride salt.
