Procedure
In analogy to the procedure described for Example 3a, reaction of 17.9 g ammonium acetate, 3.5 ml methyl cyanoacetate, 3.8 ml 1-cyclopropyl-ethanone, and 5 g 4-nitrobenzaldehyde yielded 3.23 g product.
