Procedure

To a solution of tert-butyl 2-(4-methyl-2,5-dioxoimidazolidin-4-yl)acetate (100 mg, 0.44 mmol) in DMF (1 mL) was added potassium carbonate (120 mg, 0.88 mmol) followed by 2,2,2-trifluoroethyl trifluoromethanesulfonate (110 mg, 0.48 mmol) and the reaction mixture stirred at rt overnight. The mixture was diluted with EtOAc (30 mL) and washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography eluting with 0-100% EtOAc/hexane followed by 10% MeOH/DCM to give Compound 26c (102 mg, 75% yield). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3) δ 6.12 (br. s., 1H), 4.14 (q, J=8.5 Hz, 2H), 2.78-2.62 (m, 2H), 1.52 (s, 3H), 1.45 (s, 9H).
