Procedure
6-Methyl-2-methylthiocycloheptimidazole (27 g) was added to 100 ml of anisole and stirred under ice cooling. Then, 28 g of methyl trifluoromethanesulfonate was added dropwise thereto, and stirred under ice cooling. The mixture was further stirred at room temperature for one hour, 200 ml of ethyl acetate was added, and deposited crystals were collected by filtration and dried.
