A solution of 1-aza-adamantan-4-one (1.1 g), hydroxylamine hydrochloride (0.7 g) and pyridine (0.5 ml) in ethanol (30 ml) was heated under reflux for 1 h. The solution was then treated with saturated K2CO3 solution (30 ml), evaporated to half its volume and extracted with CH2Cl2 (4×50 ml). The combined extracts were dried (K2CO3) and evaporated in vacuo to give D.1 (1.2 g).
