To a stirring solution of 2-[(1-tert-butoxycarbonylpiperidin-4-ylcarbonyl)amino]-N-(5-chloropyridin-2-yl)-5-iodobenzamide (1.17 g, 2 mmol) in acetonitrile (4 mL) was added triethylamine (2 mL, 14.3 mmol) followed by palladium(II) acetate (22 mg, 0.1 mmol) and then methyl acrylate (0.36 mL, 4 mmol). The mixture was heated to 100° C. in a sealed tube. After 15 h, the reaction mixture was cooled to room temperature and concentrated in vacuo. The crude product was purified by chromatography on silica gel, eluting with 20% ethyl acetate in dichloromethane, to give 0.96 g (88%) of a white solid.
