Procedure

The compound of Example 554F (100 mg, 0.47 mmol) was dissolved in 2 mL of 1,2-dichloroethane. To this solution at −78° C. was added Et3N (0.05 mL) and then dropwise bromoacetyl bromide (40 mL, 0.47 mmol in 1 mL of 1,2-dichloroethane). The reaction mixture was stirred at −78° C. for 10 min, then at r.t. for 2 h., diluted with water (10 mL), and extracted with 1,2-dichloroethane (2×25 mL). The combined organic layers were concentrated to give the bromoacetamide as a white solid (184 mg, 96%) suitable for further use without additional purification.
