388 mg of 4-fluoronitrobenzene, 500 mg of L-alanine tert-butyl ester and 0.9 ml of Et3N were added to a solution of 10 ml of N-methylpyrrolidinone. The reaction medium was heated at 70° C. for 20 hours and, after cooling to room temperature, then poured into a water and ice mixture. The yellow precipitate formed was filtered off, re-slurried in water and then dried over P2O5. 246 mg of tert-butyl 2-(4-nitrophenylamino)propionate (10) were obtained.
