15 g of potassium carbonate and 6.4 ml of benzyl bromide were added to a dimethylformamide (100 ml) solution of 12.4 g of ethyl 3-(1-acetyl-pyrrolidin-2-yl)-4-hydroxybenzoate, and the reaction liquid was stirred at 50° C. for 1 hour. The reaction liquid was cooled, diluted with aqueous saturated ammonium chloride solution, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with water, and dried with anhydrous magnesium sulfate. The solvent was evaporated away under reduced pressure, and the resulting residue was purified through silica gel column chromatography (developing solvent: hexane/ethyl acetate=10/1 to 1/2 to 1/3) to obtain the entitled compound as a yellow oily substance.
