To a stirred solution of 1.83 g of the crude 2-(2,6-Dimethyl-4-morpholin-4-yl-phenyl)-3H-benzoimidazole-5-carboxylic acid methyl ester in 20 ml of THF, 20 ml of water and 400 mg of LiOH were added and it was stirred at room temperature overnight. The reaction mixture was diluted with 100 ml of water and neutralized by 6N HCl. The resulting precipitates were collected by filtration and dried to afford the title compound.
