NaHB(O2CCH3)3 (30 mg) is added to a mixture of {(S)-6-[(R)-4-formyl-5-trifluoromethyl-indan-1-yloxy]-2,3-dihydro-benzofuran-3-yl}-acetic acid methyl ester (20 mg), 8-oxa-3-aza-bicyclo[3.2.1]octane hydrochloride (14 mg), sodium acetate (4 mg), and 1,2-dichloroethane (1 mL) at room temperature. The mixture is stirred at room temperature overnight. 1 M aqueous HCl solution is added, the resulting mixture is stirred for 10 min, and then water is added. The mixture is basified with aqueous K2CO3 solution and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined extract is washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4), and concentrated to give the title compound. LC (method 4): tR=1.15 min; Mass spectrum (ESI+): m/z=518 [M+H]+.
