Procedure
To a solution of (S)-tert-butyl (1-(6-bromo-1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)propyl)carbamate (Preparation 18, 0.97 g, 2.7 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (10 mL) was added potassium carbonate (1.35 g, 9.77 mmol) and chloromethyl methyl ether (0.40 mL, 5.3 mmol), and the reaction was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours. The reaction was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with water and brine. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography eluting with a 0-100% ethyl acetate/hexanes gradient to afford the title compound (580 mg, 53%) as a white solid.
