Procedure
To a suspension of sodium hydride (60% in oil, 60 mg) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) was added a solution of tert-butyl {[4-fluoro-5-(2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)-1H-pyrrol-3-yl]methyl}methylcarbamate (323 mg) in tetrahydrofuran (5 mL) at 0° C., and 15-crown-5 (330 mg) and 3-methoxybenzenesulfonyl chloride (310 mg) were added at the same temperature. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 30 min, water was added and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: hexane-ethyl acetate=7:1→3:1) to give the title compound as a colorless oil (yield 551 mg, quantitative).
