To a solution of 4-chloro-5-(2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)-1H-pyrrole-3-carbaldehyde (150 mg) in tetrahydrofuran (20 mL) was added sodium hydride (60% in oil, 81 mg) at room temperature and the mixture was stirred for 15 min. 15-Crown-5 (442 mg) was added dropwise and the mixture was stirred for 5 min. 1-methyl-1H-pyrazole-4-sulfonyl chloride (242 mg) was added and the mixture was further stirred for 30 min. The reaction mixture was diluted with water, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The extract was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: hexane-ethyl acetate=1:1→1:4) to give the title compound as a colorless oil (yield 160 mg, 65%).
