Procedure
To a suspension of sodium hydride (60% in oil, 37 mg) in tetrahydrofuran (2 mL) were added dropwise a solution of tert-butyl {[5-(2-fluoropyridin-3-yl)-4-fluoro-1H-pyrrol-3-yl]methyl}methylcarbamate (200 mg) in tetrahydrofuran (1 mL), 15-crown-5 (205 mg) and 2-furansulfonyl chloride (132 mg) under ice-cooling and the mixture was stirred for 1 hr and half. The reaction mixture was diluted with water, and extracted with ethyl acetate. The separated aqueous layer was extracted again with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layer was washed with saturated brine, dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by basic silica gel column chromatography (eluent: hexane-ethyl acetate=6:1→2:1) to give the title compound as a pale-yellow oil (yield 243 mg, 87%).
