Procedure
20 g (0.0538 mole) of 2-[[[3-methyl-4-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-2-pyridinyl]methyl]thio]-1H-benzimidazole hydrate was dissolved at room temperature in 60 ml of 1-methyl-2-pyrrolidone (NMP) and the reaction mixture was cooled to a temperature of from 0 to 5° C. 12.07 g (0.070 mole) of 3-chloroperbenzoic acid were suspended (optionally per partes) and the reaction was carried out at a temperature of from 0 to 10° C. for half an hour, then at 10-15° C. until the reaction was completed. At the end of the reaction 0.5 ml of triethylamine and a solution of 11.36 g sodium thiosulphate pentahydrate in 12 ml of water were added. The product was precipitated with water (120 ml at 20±5° C.) and filtered off to obtain 21 g of wet lansoprazole.
