(1-(9-(1,3-Dioxolan-2-yl)nonyl)piperidin-4-yl)methyl 2-cyclohexyl-2-hydroxy-2-phenylacetate (200 mg, 0.39 mmol) was dissolved in THF (2 mL) and hydrochloric acid (4 mL, 2 M aqueous solution) with stirring at RT. After 3 hours, the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with 10% aqueous potassium carbonate solution. The layers were separated and the organic extracts run through a hydrophobic fit. The solvents were removed in vacuo. The title compound was isolated (190 mg, >100%) and it was used without further purification in the next step.
