10.0 g of 3-Hydroxy-4-iodo-benzoic acid methyl ester, 14.3 g of 1-(2-bromo-ethyl)-3-methyl-benzene, and 10.0 g of K2CO3 were stirred in anhydrous DMF at 80° C. for 10 h. Then, 14.3 g of 1-(2-bromo-ethyl)-3-methyl-benzene, and 10.0 g of K2CO3 were added and stirring was continued at 80° C. for 10 h. 400 ml of EA were then added and the mixture was washed twice using 200 ml of water each. The organic layer was then dried using MgSO4 and evaporated. Chromatography on silica gel using EA/HEP (gradient) yielded 11.5 g of the title compound, colorless oil.
