Procedure
2-[5-[(2,4-Dioxothiazolidin-5-ylidene)methyl]-2-methoxyphenyl]-acetic acid (440 mg, 1.50 mmol), 4-(trifluoromethyl)aniline (242 μL, 1.50 mmol), triethylamine (210 μL, 1.51 mmol) and dehydrated N,N-dimethylformamide (5 mL) were mixed, and, under an atmosphere of argon, diethyl cyanophosphate (228 μL, 1.50 mmol) was added under cooling with ice and stirring. After stirring for 1 hour at room temperature, the mixture was allowed to stand for 3 days. The reaction mixture was poured into ice water and the precipitated crystals were collected by filtration. The crystals were washed with ethyl acetate, and then dried to obtain 472 mg (72%) of the title compound as yellow crystals.
