Procedure
In a 50 ml round bottom-flask, there were charged 2-trimethylsilylethyl 6-(1-propenyl)salicylate (3.1 g, 11.0 mmol), 4,6-dimethoxy-2-methylsulfonylpyrimidine (2.4 g, 11.0 mmol), potassium carbonate (1.8 g, 13.0 mmol) and 10 ml of N,N-dimethylformamide (hereinafter referred to as "DMF"), and the resultant mixture was reacted for 1 hour at 80° C. After cooling the reaction mixture, DMF was distilled off under reduced pressure, and the residue thus obtained was dissolved in ethyl acetate, washed with water and a saturated salt water, dried with anhydrous sodium sulfate and concentrated. The resultant residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to obtain 2.0 g (yield: 47.6%) of the aimed product (colorless transparent viscous liquid).
