Procedure

To a solution of the crude [3-(4-hydroxy-3-methoxyphenyl)azetidin-1-yl]-{4-[2-(tetrahydropyran-2-yloxy)ethoxy]pyridin-2-yl}-methanone prepared in (1) in THF (5.0 mL) was added 1 N hydrochloric acid (5.0 mL). The reaction mixture was stirred at RT for 13 hr. To the reaction mixture were added aqueous 1 N NaOH and saturated aqueous NaHCO3 and then the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was dried over MgSO4. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (Developing solvent: chloroform/methanol=9/1) to give the title compound (0.70 g, 75%).
