3.7 g (12.9 mmol) of methyl (R)-3-tert-butoxycarbonylamino-2-piperidin-1-ylpropanoate are placed in a mixture of 25 ml of methanol and 15 ml of hydrochloric acid in solution in isopropanol having a concentration of 5-6N. The reaction medium is stirred at 40° C. for 18 h and then concentrated under vacuum. 3.5 g (100%) of methyl(S)-3-amino-2-piperidin-1-ylpropanoate dihydrochloride are obtained in the form of a beige solid.
