Procedure

550 mg of ethyl 8-[(2,6-difluorobenzyl)oxy]-6-fluoro-2-methylimidazo[1,2-a]pyridine-3-carboxylate (Example 13A; 1.5 mmol, 1 equivalent) were dissolved in 64 ml of THF and 12 ml of methanol, 7.5 ml of 1 N aqueous lithium hydroxide solution were added and the mixture was stirred at RT overnight. 8 ml of 1 N aqueous hydrochloric acid were then added, and the mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure. The solid formed was filtered off and washed with water. This gave 429 mg of the title compound (80% of theory).
