To a solution of Intermediate 104 (7.57 g, 38.0 mmol) in toluene (100 mL) was added hydrochloric acid (3.43 mL, 41.8 mmol). The mixture was kept at room temperature for 10 minutes. The mixture was cooled to 0° C. and potassium bromide (PANREAC, 4.97 g, 41.8 mmol) and hydrogen peroxide (4.59 mL, 49.4 mmol) were added. Reaction mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 3 hours and then was quenched with 1N Na2S2O3 (150 mL) and saturated NaHCO3 aqueous solution (150 mL). Organic phase was separated and the aqueous phase was extracted with EtOAc (2×150 mL). Combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated to give the title compound (10.22 g, 36.7 mmol, 97% yield) as oil. 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ ppm: 7.43 (m, 1H), 4.21-4.28 (q, 2H), 2.30-2.35 (m, 6H), 1.19-1.24 (m, 3H).
