Procedure
6.07 g of triethylamine was added to a mixture of 9.18 g of 32A, 11.87 g of trichloromethyl chloroformate and 250 mL of dioxane, and the mixture was refluxed for 6 hours. The mixture was cooled, filtered, and the filtrate was stripped of solvent, to give 7-chloro-2,3-dihydro-4-isocyanato-2-methylbenzofuran (34A), as a brown liquid.
