A mixture of iodomethane (0.76 g), 60% sodium hydride (0.22 g) and 4′-{[5-(4-hydroxy-2,2-dimethyl-3,4-dihydro-2H-chromen-6-yl)-4-methyl-6-oxo-2-propylpyrimidin-1(6H)-yl]methyl}biphenyl-2-carbonitrile (0.56 g) in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 mL) was stirred for 1 hr. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate, washed with water, dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated. The residue was purified by silica gel column chromatography to give the title compound as a colorless solid (0.38 g, 66%).
