About one-half of the product from Example 17 was dissolved in 25 ml. of dry N,N-dimethylformamide. The mixture was cooled in an ice bath, and 370 mg. (2.7 mmol.) of phosphorous trichloride were added. The mixture was stirred with cooling for 30 minutes. The mixture then was poured into a mixture of water and ethyl acetate. The ethyl acetate solution was separated, washed successively with 5 percent hydrochloric acid and brine, dried over magnesium sulfate, and evaporated to dryness in vacuo. The residue (350 mg.) was consistent by nmr analysis with the structure of the title compound.
