Procedure
(S)-1-chloro-4-(3-methylpiperazin-1-yl)phthalazine (1.50 g, 5.71 mmol) and di-t-butylcarbonate (1.73 g, 6.56 mmol) were dissolved in DMF (12 mL) and N,N-diisopropylethylamine (2 mL) and stirred at rt for 4 hours. The reaction was taken up in ethyl acetate (150 mL) and washed with aqueous K2CO3 (10%), water, and saturated sodium chloride. The organics were dried (MgSO4) and evaporated to give a yellow oil. Chromatography over silica gel with a gradient of hexanes/0-40% ethyl acetate gave an off-white solid. MS (M+H)+=363.1.
