A solution of crude 2-(4-chlorophenyl)-N-[2-(1-methyl-2-pyrrolidinyl)ethyl]-3H-imidazo[4,5-b]pyridine-3-acetamide (3.96 g, 0.0100 mole) in hot isopropyl alcohol was acidified with hydrogen chloride in isopropyl alcohol. Isopropyl ether was added to the cloud point. Upon cooling to room temperature, a solid precipitated. The solid was collected by filtration, rinsed with isopropyl ether, and dried under high vacuum to give 4.2 g (86%) of title compound, mp 171°-175° C.
