5.4 g of 5-trimethylsilyloxy-2-(4-[5-hydroxy-1-pentenyl]phenyl)pyridine, 1 g of palladium on active charcoal (10 w/w %) and 50 ml of ethyl acetate were reacted in an analogous manner to Example 1(c) to give 5.1 g of 5-trimethylsilyloxy-2-(4-[5-hydroxy-1-pentyl]phenyl)pyridine.
