Procedure

To a stirred solution of 2-(2,2,2-trifluoroethoxy)-4-(2-pyridyloxy)phenylacetic acid (0.10 g, 0.31 mmol) from Step 4 above and 2-carbamoyl-4-(2-methylphenyl)piperazine (0.08 g, 0.35 mmol) from Step 4 of Example 1 in DMF (2 mL) was added HOBT (0.06 g, 0.35 mmol), EDC (0.10 g, 0.5 mmol), and DIEA (0.09 mL, 0.5 mmol). The solution was stirred at ambient temperature for 14 h and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The residue was partitioned between EtOAc (50 mL) and saturated aqueous NaHCO3 (2×25 mL). The organic phase was dried (MgSO4), filtered, and the solvent was removed under reduced pressure. The residue was purified by pressurized silica gel column chromatography using 95:5 CH2Cl2 :MeOH as eluant. The product-containing fractions were evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound as an amorphous solid.
