To a solution of (S)-3-(6-Methyl-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl)-5-phenyl-pentanoic acid ethyl ester (0.2 g, 0.57 mmol), (4-Methyl-benzo[b]thiophen-3-yl)-methanol (0.10 g, 0.57 mmol), and triphenylphosphine (0.18 g, 0.68 mmol) was added dropwise DIAD (0.14 g, 0.68 mmol). The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate and washed with water. The organic phase was dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated. The resulting oily residue was purified by prep TLC using 4:1 Hexane:EtOAc as an eluent to afford 0.12 g of the desired product as a brown oil.
