To a mixture of [1-(2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl)-cyclohexyl]-acetic acid methyl ester (115 mg, 0.40 mmol) and (1,4-dimethyl-1H-indol-3-ylmethyl)-trimethylammonium iodide (200 mg, 0.58 mmol) in DMF (2.5 mL) was added K2CO3 (110 mg, 0.80 mmol). The mixture was stirred at 100° C. for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was diluted with EtOAc (50 mL) and washed with H2O (50 mL×3). The organic layer was dried over sodium sulfate and concentrated. The resulting residue was purified by CombiFlash with 30% EtOAc in Hexane as the eluent to afford the desired {1-[3-(1,4-dimethyl-3H-indol-3-ylmethyl)-2-oxo-2,3-dihydro-benzimidazol-1-yl]-cyclohexyl}-acetic acid methyl ester (131 mg, 74%).
