To a solution of 1-oxo-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-1H-[1,4]diazepino[1,2-a]indole-8-carboxylic acid (Intermediate J, 61 mg, 0.25 mmol) in DMF (1.5 mL) is added benzotriazol-1-yl-oxytripyrrolidinophosphonium hexafluorophosphate (194 mg, 0.37 mmol). The reaction mixture is stirred for 10 min and 3-(1-trityl-1H-imidazol-4-yl)aniline (100 mg, 0.25 mmol) and triethylamine (0.07 mL, 0.50 mmol) are added. The reaction mixture is stirred at room temperature for 16 h. Water (35 mL) is added and the resulting solid is collected by filtration and rinsed with water to afford the title crude compound which is used in the next step without purification.
