To a solution of tert-butyl 4-oxo-1-phenyl-1,3,8-triazaspiro[4.5]decane-8-carboxylate (0.4 g, 1.2 mmol) and potassium carbonate (0.25 g, 1.8 mmol) in N,N-dimethylformamide (5 mL), was added benzyl 6-bromohexanoate (0.34 g, 1.2 mmol). After stirring at 55° C. for 18 hours, the reaction mixture was diluted with ethyl acetate (25 mL), washed with dilute citric acid, water and brine. The organic phase was dried over MgSO4, filtered and concentrated in vacuo to obtain the title compound (0.08 g, 12%); MS for C31H41N3O5 m/z 536.16 (M+H)+.
