Procedure

The desired compound was prepared by addition of a solution in THF of 4-hydroxy-4-[3-(tetrahydropyran- 2-yloxy)-trans-prop-1-enyl]tetrahydro-pyran, prepared as in step 2, to a suspension of NaH in THF, followed by alkylation of the resulting anion with methyl iodide.
