Concentrated HCl (0.26 ml) was added to a solution of (racemic) N-(5-cyano-4-isopropoxypyridin-2-yl)-7-(dimethoxymethyl)-6-(tetrahydrofuran-3-yl)-3,4-dihydro-1,8-naphthyridine-1(2H)-carboxamide (intermediate 336, 157 mg, 0.314 mmol) in THF (1.2 ml) and H2O (0.4 ml) at room temperature. After stirring for 5 h at room temperature, sat. aq. NaHCO3 was added and the mixture extracted with EtOAc (3×). The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over Na2SO4 and evaporated. The residue was triturated with Et2O to give the title compound as a white solid.
