Procedure

A solution of D3 (270 mg, 0.67 mmol) in dimethylformamide (5 mL) was treated with 60% sodium hydride (40 mg) at 0° C., then allowed to warm to room temperature. Benzyl bromide (137 mg, 0.8 mmol) in dimethylformamide (2 mL) was added, and the solution stirred overnight. The mixture was then poured onto water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers were washed with brine dried and evaporated. Chromatography on silica, eluting with 40% ethyl acetate in hexane afforded the product (200 mg). MH+ 494.
