A solution of NaH (60%) (0.6 g, 15 mmol) and trimethylsulfoxonium iodide (3.3 g, 15 mmol) in dimethyl sulfoxide (30 mL) was stirred for 30 minutes at 25° C. Then a solution of 5-fluoro-3-isopropylidene-1,3-dihydro-indol-2-one (2.6 g, 13.6 mmol) in dry tetrahydrofuran (30 mL) was added dropwise over 20 minutes. After being stirred for 1 hour at 25° C. and 1 hour at 50° C., the reaction solution was poured into ice-cold water and extracted with ether (3×100 mL), washed with water, dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate, filtered and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was recrystallized from ether to afford the title compound as white solid (2.39 g, 85%).
