Methyl N-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)-N-(3-methoxybenzyl)alaninate (6-1, 0.510 g, 1.450 mmol) in a 3:1:1 mixture of THF:MeOH:H2O (100 mL) was treated with LiOH hydrate (0.067 g, 1.595 mmol) then stirred 24 h. Upon completion, the reaction mixture was concentrated under vacuum to yield N-(3-chloro-4-fluorophenyl)-N-(3-methoxybenzyl)alanine lithium salt (6-2). MS 338.2 found 338.8 (M+H+) required.
