Procedure
3-(3-Hydroxypyridin-4-yl)-1-propanol (1.00 g, 6.53 mmol) obtained in Example 62 is dissolved in THF, and thereto are added dihydropyrane (5.0 ml, 55 mmol), D,L-camphore-10-sulfonic acid (1.00 g, 4.30 mmol), and the mixture is heated under reflux for 20 minutes. The reaction solution is poured into an aqueous sodium hydrogen carbonate solution, and the mixture is extracted with ethyl acetate (200 ml×2), dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is purified by silica gel column chromatography (eluent: hexane/ethyl acetate) to give 3-hydroxy-4-(3-tetrahydropyranyloxypropyl)pyridine as colorless oil.
