Sodium hydride (60% dispersion, 0.049 g, 1.2 mmol) was added to a solution of trans-3-(1H-benzo[d]imidazol-2-yl)cyclobutanol (0.11 g, 0.58 mmol) in DMF (1.5 mL) under argon and the mixture was stirred for 45 min at RT. 2-Fluoro-3-(tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)pyridine (0.11 g, 0.58 mmol) was added and the mixture was stirred for 16 h at 110° C. Ethyl acetate was added and the mixture was washed with water (2×), saturated aqueous sodium chloride (1×), dried over anhydrous magnesium sulfate, filtered, and concentrated in vacuo. The resulting oil was purified by silica gel chromatography to give 2-(trans-3-(3-(Tetrahydro-2H-pyran-4-yl)pyridin-2-yloxy)cyclobutyl)-1H-benzo[d]imidazole (37 mg, 0.11 mmol, 18% yield) as a white solid.
