Procedure
4,6-Dichloropyrimidine (149 mg, 1.0 mmol), 2,6-dichlorophenol (179 mg, 1.1 mmol), potassium carbonate (166 mg, 1.2 mmol), and sodium iodide (7.5 mg, 0.05 mmol) were stirred in acetonitrile (3 mL) at 20° C. under an atmosphere of nitrogen for 64 h. The reaction was poured onto 1N aqueous sodium hydroxide solution and extracted twice with diethyl ether. The combined organic layers were washed with brine, dried over sodium sulfate, filtered and the solvent was evaporated under reduced pressure to give the title compound (195 mg, 71%) as a white solid.
